FAITH BASED COUNSELOR

Offering: INDIVIDUAL, MARITAL, or FAMILY THERAPY

Thank you for taking the time to look at my web site. You have come to the right place if you are experiencing difficult situations in your life or in the life of someone you love. Life is often hard and unfair. Yet, in these difficult places there are choices we can make that open up to us more peace, resolve conflicts with understanding, and lead to genuine healing. This is where I can step into your life with over twenty-five years of experience in professional, faith based Christian counseling.

I begin our sessions by carefully listening to you. I offer my insights into your life as you are ready. It is important for me to progress at the pace you are comfortable, so you do not get overwhelmed or frustrated. Together we develop a plan of relief, healing or action. I value honest, up front communication from my clients.

I believe that everyone is loved by God and has a unique call on their life. However it is not easy to find our place of living life to the potential for which we were created. That is because we live in a world that is broken and we are part of this broken humanity. We need God’s Truth, Light and Love to shine on us and remove the shadows that block us. We are all in this together and we need each other. It is courageous to ask for help.

A professional strength I have acquired is to sensitively find the roots of the issues you bring into the counseling hour. Often times we discover that the problem you are dealing with began earlier in your life, when you did not have the resources of support and love that you needed to safely get through the difficulty.   Current circumstances could be triggering you to respond in a fearful or angry manner. The good news is as we focus on bringing peace to the current issue, you (or you and your mate) will be healing from the inside out and becoming a more mature, loving person.

Jan has truly been such a blessing for my teenage daughter! She has such a compassionate heart! She is a Godly woman that has effective ways of dealing with pains and hurts. I am so thankful for her and the help she has been giving my daughter! The location at Fairview Missionary Church is close to home, which has made it convenient to see her. I would recommend Jan to anyone who is seeking healing!

I really have loved coming to Janice. I had a hard time looking for a Faith based/ Christian counselor. I drive a half hour just to make our appointments. I have loved the understanding, professionalism, and knowledge that I have received with Janice’s counseling. I appreciate her very kind and therapeutic interventions. I have been coming for about 10 months and feel much better about a hope and a future. Thank you so much. There are so few counselors in my area so it is so vital what you are doing!

    Hi Jan,
Several years ago, the summer of 2002 I came to you for a short time. My husband of plus 30 yrs. had asked me for a divorce. I was devastated, but you helped me have confidence in myself again.
Now, all these years later I am remarried and we own our own business. Thank you. I appreciate all the help and advice you gave me.

Thank you so much for being available during some very hard times in my life. I appreciate your tenacity in working and assisting me through my problems. When good counsel is needed it cannot always be found but you have provided good words at just the right moments and I appreciate the wisdom you carry. Thank you for listening to the “still small voice.”

Missing our sessions and cup of hot tea! I admire you and appreciate you so much. You emulate and represent God’s love so much and His abundant peace and joy shine through. It still amazes me how good God is in allowing our paths to cross.

  6. Neil says:

I wanted to thank you for leading my mind and heart into places it needed to go. The way you led me not to believe the negative thoughts in my head as brought peace beyond understanding. I have gone through many hardships and changes the past years…my sister committed suicide and grandma passed. I followed my wife to Toledo, and started a new job. Also, all the kids have been living the teenage years. Through it all….my faith has stayed strong and I still wake up knowing that God loves me, even when I don’t want to love me.

Thank you. I often pass on your wisdom to my kids and my students.

Thank you for showing me God’s purpose. I know I am where He wants me. Sincerely, Neil

  8. K. says:

I appreciate Jan’s skill in knowing when to allow me to talk and when to interject comments and helpful questions that led me to insights about myself and my situation.

  9. S.S. says:

I want to say thank you to you and our Heavenly Father for getting me out of my “depression”….I feel my life is headed in the right direction now. I want to thank you so much for your help in all this; you gave me the confidence and the “tools” to make it happen.

  10. Tom says:

I agreed to attend counseling with my wife, but didn’t intend much participation. I was surprised the first session with how easy Jan is to talk with

I came across your website, saw your resume which confirmed that you were the counselor at the children’s home , now youth center that I spent some time at in 1974. What I remember is your absolute kindness and calming effect on me when I was traumatized and filled with hurt and anger. Sometimes, the opportunity comes along to say thank you to someone who may not know that they impacted your life with an act of kindness. So, I just wanted to say thank you. Shari C

      • Shari,
Thank you for your kind and thoughtful comment. I am thankful I could be a part in helping you experience some calmness after the trauma you had been through.

  11. Victoria Lynn says:

Janice brings sincere warmth, understanding, knowledge and expertise in Christian counseling into every session I have had with her. She has provided a safe haven to share emotional scars and pain.

  12. Cathy says:

It was through a series of tragic accidents that left me devastated that I sought help from Jan King. Her calming influence quickly put me at ease. Her obvious deep concern and incredible insight are continuing to teach me the tools that I need. I’m being left with hope that for so long eluded me.

  13. I just want to thank you for being available to counsel people in the Steuben County area. I am now referring people from Steuben County your direction who I formerly was sending to XXXXXXXXXXX in Fort Wayne or XXXXXXXXXXX in Kendallville. I pray that God gives you great wisdom in dealing with people.
